Very provocative presentation at the LSE.
I have come to a similar conclusion. We have seen profound advances in tools, computers, robotics and internet distribution. Farmers worked 80 hours a week, the economy transformed to industry and we got organized for 40 hours a week, and now with the advances we have at hand: 21 hours is perfect. Thank You Juliet Schor and thank you nef.
Textbook definition of economics is the study of the distribution of goods and services… if I recall correctly. Bah.
It ought to be the study of resources, goods, services, INCOME and their distribution. Otherwise the territory is not mapped. And our mainstream economic bus drivers just drove off the cliff.
What are we economizing, anyhow. It was comforting to hear President Obama last night say we had a hundred years of natural gas. Right. Then what? What are we building here….. a candle?
I sure hope you get big press. I Could help you put on a speaking event in Portland, Oregon
Dear David, Thanks for yours. I’ll be in Oregon speaking at the Illahee Institute on Feb 24. Hope you can come. Juliet
